*Change Your Thinking **

Image
It will take just 37 seconds to read this and it might help to 'change your thinking'.* * Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.* * One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.* *The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.* *The men talked for hours on end.* * They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..* *Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.* *The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.* *The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.* * Ducks an...

GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL

Image
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.. She said, 'Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?' I laughed and enthusiastically responded, 'Of course you may!' and she gave me a giant squeeze.. 'Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?' I asked. She jokingly replied, 'I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids...' 'No seriously,' I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. 'I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!' she told me. After class we walked to the student union building...

Lord Krishna's lost city rediscoverd

Image
Dwaraka - A LOST CITY RECOVERED - Dwaraka was a western Indian city submerged by the sea right after the death of Sri Krishna. This was regarded as a grandiose metaphor, part of a story filled with great myths. But in the early eighties an important archaeological site was found at the site of the legendary city of Lord Krishna. Situated in Saurashtra, at a point where the Gomti river meets the Arabian sea, it has acquired multifarious names down the ages: Dwaraka, the gateway to eternal happiness; Swarnapuri, the city of gold, Swarnadwarika, the golden gateway. Why is that the rediscovery of Dwaraka has not attracted the same degree of attention in the West, as that of ancient Troy by Heinrich Schliemann? Literary texts like the Mahabharata , Harivamsha and Purana contain traditions about the foundation of Dwaraka, its planning and glory. Before the legendary city of Dwaraka was discovered some scholars were of the view ...

Ten Rules For Being Human

Image
----By: Cherie Carter-Scott, From "If Life is a Game, These are the Rules" Text courtesy:pandu ranga reddy k [k.pandurangareddy@gmail.com]- many Thanks! Rule One : You will receive a body. You may love it or hate it, but it will be yours for the duration of your life on Earth. Rule Two : You will be presented with lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called 'life.' Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or hate them, but you have designed them as part of your curriculum. Rule Three : There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation, a series of trials, errors, and occasional victories. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that work. Rule Four : A lesson is repeated until learned. Lessons will be repeated to you in various forms until you have learned them. When you have learned them, you can then go on to...

The Interview With God Poem

I dreamed I had an interview with God. “So you would like to interview me?” God asked. “If you have the time” I said. God smiled. “My time is eternity.” “What questions do you have in mind for me?” “What surprises you most about humankind?” God answered... “That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.” “That they lose their health to make money... and then lose their money to restore their health.” “That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.” "That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had never lived.” God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while. And then I asked... “As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?” “To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved.” “To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.” “To learn to forgive b...

Br. Satyananda - The Cosmic Play Of Life And Death

Image
August 22nd 1994 It is like wild water rafting - passing from earth towards the astral world! People feel when their time is 'over' 1990 Brother T. came to Mother Centre and when asked if he needs something he answered: I am only taking one last look around.*** Primary pain is psychological - caused by attachment. Do not fear pain - fear attachment. You get sometimes a glimpse of the 'other world' before dying. When death comes, GOD and GURUS will be there. When life force is withdrawing - last of all the hearing goes. You feel a slight sense of suffocation and then you fly - you are free. But there is a stop, your Guru is there, this is judgement day, but you judge yourself, you see your life, how much have you loved others, how much have you loved GOD, how kind you were to others etc. You see what you need for your next step. You are off again, flying towards light and then you are out and in the astral! You are surrounded by loved ones, old friends, you talk together...

"Don't be serious, be sincere."!!

Speech by Chetan Bhagat at Symbiosis ...must read... Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life. I use the word balanced before successful. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order. There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions. "Life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming first. Same is with life where health and relationships are the marble. Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die. One thing about nurturing the spark - don't take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really t...

Hold Hands

Image
Little boy and his father were crossing a bridge. The father was kind of scared so he asked his little son, 'Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don't fall into the river.' The little boy said, 'No, Dad. You hold my hand.' 'What's the difference?' Asked the puzzled father. 'There's a big difference,' replied the little boy.. 'If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go." In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold the hand of the person who loves you rather than expecting them to hold yours... This message is too short......but carries a lot of Feelings.

Life Is Beautiful Inside And Outside.

Image
THE SPEAKING TREE (The Times of India Newspaper extract) Talk: Balgangadharnath Swami Text courtesy:Mr Pandu ranga Reddy k [k.pandurangareddy@gmail.com] How should you live? With joy and exuberance. Joy should come not only from serving society but also from enjoying the best things in life. Just live with them, enjoy them. You do not have to possess something to enjoy it. Look at the butterfly. Its lifespan is so short, yet it enjoys itself thoroughly. It goes from flower to flower, the most beautiful creation of nature. It sucks nectar – the sweetest thing in nature. Give it anything else to eat or drink, but it chooses only the best, honey. Similarly, we should speak only sweetly, think and live beautifully and enjoy life. Sweetness is the secret of a beautiful life. Once we speak sweetly the whole world will speak sweetly to us. This should become our nature. Only bhakti can ensure this, because bhakti means love. What do we do in temples? We put a stone there and offer...
